What will you do?
As a Quality Manager for the FDCA & PEF manufactured at Avantium spread over two locations, you are responsible for ensuring the quality of the production process to be in line with the ISO guidelines. You play a crucial role in maintaining the highest quality standards and supporting continuous improvement within the FDCA & PEF manufacturing sites.
Responsibilities:
- Quality management external polymerization partner:
- Define Product Quality Standards and Specifications
- Internal Audits
- Manage SLA Contractual Agreements concerning quality matters
- Monitor process capability for Incoming Material, In-Process Quality Control, Final Product Inspection
- Monitor the Non-Conformance Management
- Training and Support concerning quality requirements
- Data Analysis and Reporting to identify trends, potential issues, and areas for improvement
- Encourage and facilitate continuous improvement initiatives
- Communicate Customer Feedback Integration feedback related to product quality
- Establishing and maintaining quality systems at the Avantium FDCA Flagship plant:
- Implement and maintain quality management systems in accordance with ISO guidelines
- Ensure that all relevant documentation, including procedures, work instructions, and specifications, are up-to-date and easily accessible to employees.
- Experience with rewriting/editing/reviewing SOPs and WIs
- Providing support for audits and inspections
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors during quality audits and inspections:
- Investigate and respond to audit findings by implementing corrective and preventive actions
- Perform internal process audits to verify process compliance and adherence from users
- Continuous improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to quality improvement initiatives by using Kaizen methodologies
- Analyze data and trends to identify potential issues and proactively address them
- Training and coaching in quality procedures and guidelines
- Complaints and NC handling
You will predominantly be based at our Flagship plant in Delfzijl and if your primary based location is Amsterdam, you will be expected to visit the Flagship at least once every two weeks.
What do you bring?
To be successful in this role, you require the following competencies:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as chemical engineering, chemistry, biotechnology, or a related fieldM
- Thorough knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 quality standards and experience in implementing them.
- ISO 9001:2015 lead auditor certification
- Analytical thinking and RC problem-solving skill such as 5 WHYs, Fish bone analysis, Fault Tree Analysis and implementation of CAPAs
- Statistical Process Control (SPC): Tools like Control Charts, Histograms, Pareto Charts, etc., to monitor and control production processes statistically
- Knowledge and application of FMEA, process Risk Assessment and mitigation
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, both verbal and written in Dutch and English.
- Willing to frequently travel to our locations in Amsterdam & Delfzijl.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and with other departments. Being able to show authority when Quality is at risk.
- Independence and accuracy in performing tasks with strong attention to detail.
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing circumstances.
- Drive for continuous improvement and pursuit of excellence.
- Experience with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience in a quality-related role within the chemical or pharmaceutical industry is a plus.
- Familiarity with FDCA production processes and technologies is appreciated.

Please note: We are considering applicants that can be based at either our Amsterdam HQ office or at our Flagship Plant in Delfzijl. If you are based in Amsterdam, you will be expected to travel to Delfzijl every two weeks.
